DIY Hamburger Cupcakes and Sugar Cookie Fries

Hey Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed Father's Day. I sure did! We had everyone over to our place and we enjoyed a BBQ and beach day. I wanted to do something fun for father's Day, so I scoured the internet for a couple ideas and landed on these CUTE cupcakes at Bakerella. I did things just a tad different, but her instructions are very well laid out, so I recommend stopping by her site for tips!

Here is what you will need:

Cupcakes:
1 box of yellow cake mix (usually it needs 1 egg, 1 cup of water and 1/4 cup vegetable oil)
24+ Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
2 cans of vanilla frosting (You can use any frosting as long as it is white)
Food Coloring
Sugar in The Raw

Sugar Cookies:

I used this recipe here *Serving size: 2 dozen*

Here we go!

I started with the Reese's. I mixed up my food coloring and froze the Peanut Butter cups. I used one whole can of frosting for the green and split the other can in two parts for the yellow and red.

I used plastic bags, just like Bakerella, to apply the frosting. I applied green first, followed by red and yellow and placed the decorated peanut butter cups in the freezer.

This totally reminds me of the food scene in Hook!

Next step is the sugar cookies!

Make the dough! Any sugar cookie recipe will do.

I did not roll out the dough, instead I formed my dough in rectangular shapes creating multiple cookies on one sheet. I did this because cutting big chunks of cookie scares me. I figured, the smaller the cookies, the easier it will be for me to cut the cookies.

Once the cookies have cooled, simply cut long strips and toss in sugar! Voila! French fries!!!

Last step is the cupcakes!

Once they are cooled, all you need to do is cut them in half. Take your Reese's out of the freezer and place them on the bottom portion of the cupcake. Apply the top part and sprinkle the Sugar in the Raw on top.

There you have it! I did these for Father's Day, but think they would be fantastic for the Fourth of July!!!

Happy Summer Holidays All!
