These are a Few of my Favorite Things!

"When the dog bites, when the bee stings, when I'm feeling sad. I simply remember my favorite things and then I don't feel so bad."

I cannot help but sing that song, especially after writing the title. As I am looking back on 2013, I am thinking about all the little things that have made me smile throughout the year. So here it goes, my list of my favorite things!

WINDOW CHALKBOARDS

Oh, how I love chalkboards. I really do. I like making lists (and checking them twice) and I thoroughly enjoy doing our monthly calendar. I made a lot of these this year and they sold almost as fast as I was able to complete them. I do not blame anybody, chalkboards are awesome.
I made this chalkboard out of an old window and then attached a wire basket to the front to hold our mail and other miscellaneous items. I get a little too excited to change it every month!

Window chalkboards don't always have to have a full window. This one was a double pane window missing one side of glass. Simple solution: fill it with chicken wire! That way, you can display pictures, cards or whatever you would like! This item I did sell and did not keep for myself; though, I will be making one just for me soon!

RAKES

Nothing says rustic like an old rake head. There are so many options out there utilizing rakes. I have one rake by our door that holds our car keys and my purse. (Picture too be added later when I get better light)

I also use one in our kitchen to hold cooking utensils. This may be my favorite use of the rake. It is such a space saver and looks quite charming!

I also utilized a rake in a display I did with mirrors. My customer liked it so much, she took the rake as well.

BLUE

Whether it be turquoise, light blue or the bluest of blues. Blue has been a very hot commodity with my clients. I love all the custom work I have done involving blue. It is such a fun color that adds so much character to pieces.

HANDMADE SIGNS

Who doesn't love a wooden barnyard-esque handmade sign? I know, I sure like them. I feel as though adding a touch of something a little more personal in your home is always a good thing. What is more personal than a handmade sign? And, no, you do not have to make it yourself, but it is fun to do!
I just love a cute sign! Both of these are proudly displayed in our home.

Cannot wait to see what 2014 brings! What are a few of your favorite things???
