Painted Hardware: DIY Removal

Have you ever painted something, let's say a door, and gotten paint all over the hardware? For me, most of the products I pick up are poorly painted (sorry previous folks) and the hardware is usually just painted alongside the piece of furniture. I love finding out what it under the paint. Is it brassy, is it beautiful, will it make my furniture pop?! Regardless of what is underneath, the paint is coming off. It really is a sort of Christmas for me! And as luck would have it, I have a really easy method for removing the paint.

Here is what you need:

White Vinegar

1 Bowl or Tupperware

Painted Hardware. Stay tuned to see what I do with the nightstand!

Hardware after Removal.

Soak Hardware in Vinegar overnight.
After the soak, peel the paint away!!!

Voila!

Unfortunately, the hardware wasn't in as good of shape as I had hoped. (Insert Sad Face) There is a good amount of chipping in the plating and you can see their "bones" if you will. (The white part that looks like paint, but isn't.) I will be spray painting them though for the new makeover, so they will be used!!! Let me know how your paint removal went!
