Dubost Winery: Spring Release Party 2013

I am fortunate enough to be able to work with my 'extended' family as an event coordinator for Dubost Winery. It has not only allowed me to use my creativity, but it has given me some experience in the art of decorating for a client's specific needs. For the spring release party, Kate (the owner) was VERY specific. She wanted classy and simple. As we brainstormed together, we knew the use of fresh, live flowers would be a simple way to brighten and enhance the table. Marigolds were the first choice and we ran with that idea.

I found some really inexpensive small Chinese take out boxes (clearance item) at Michaels and decided to use them as the holders for the flowers. We also picked out some decorative scrap book paper, which I cut into rectangles to be the place mat for the flowers. Once the look was what I desired, I used a jar of pebbles that I had found in the winery's shed and spread those around the centerpiece. The key to this decor was that it be small, simple and pretty. With Kate's help and ideas, I think we nailed it!

In addition to the decoration, I utilized a pallet to create a menu. I am so in love with this idea that I am going to create a DIY tutorial as it is so simple! I think the look of the menu is so classic yet rustic! What do you think?

This event was so much fun and I look forward to many more events!
